This was my first time at Maboneng, and I’m so embarrassed it took me this long to go embrace my true best life. I’m so down for markets because it’s all your favourite things under one roof. Surely that’s foodie heaven? As for the Ethiopian food, it was incredible and something I don’t regret trying. I promise you, life with adventurous food tasting is better than a life without. I gave my taste buds something new and different, and I am pretty sure they like me more now.
This meal is obviously not my typical pasta, burgers, wings. I am trying to diversfy my page and give my taste buds a new adventure. I’m so glad I was basically forced to try it. Ethiopian food has so much flavour and taste that you can’t really point out what’s making it so bomb, you just know there’s something. It truly is an amazing experience to eat this food, and you would be doing yourself a major injustice if you are going to Maboneng and not eating this food. The portions are also really big enough for two people, but if you’re a real champion, you should get one for yourself.
Maboneng should be my new hang out spot because not only does it have the amazing market that’s got all the wonderful stalls, but it’s also got the most amazing restaurants that are scattered all over. So there’s so many options to choose from, it might even get a tad overwhelming. I associate my Sunday’s with jazzy music, long strolls, good food, good company, and serenity. And this I believe you’ll get from Maboneng. It’s the perfect place to be to try feed your soul with light and energy. It’s everything you need on a Sunday, and more. This is the type of place that’s strictly for social, self loving purposes.
I always emphasize how you can’t restrict certain places to certain people because that’s an injustice to the place which has obviously tried to cater for a large market. Maboneng is one of those places, you can make a family trip out of it, you can make it a date, friendship time, basically anyone who is looking for good food that comes with a warm ambiance, this is your place. I would also on the side highly recommend it for people who are trying to show tourists around Johannesburg. You can’t go wrong with a great market.
This was the perfect start to my week, and I 100% owe it to this market. It’s important to associate ourselves with energy that’s going to fill our spirits with good vibes, and I know that this is one of those places that will do that. Worth every South African rand!
