When I started this blog it was in aims of giving reviews on restaurants you should check out, and in those incorporate what works best according to the occasion, people you going with and the vibe that it gives off. However I realized there's more to eating out than that, there's a story behind each lunch date that I have. Some mean more than others, but nether-less there's still a real life experiences attached. I would like to start sharing that with you guys, to make my reviews more personal. Hopefully you can relate, it's cool to find similarities in people's experiences, it creates a sense of community.

So allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Katlego Makhura, I am awkward and I am also good at eating. The more you follow my blog the more you'll realize what that means. My reviews will now be centered around that, this wonderful skill of eating, together with the awkward personality that is attached. These will collectively tell you a story.

This particular restaurant The Shadowboxer has quite a bittersweet place in my heart. I've been here 3 times, and the 2 times before were not as memorable as the third time that I came. The third time is the day I got the spark back for this blog. I had lunch with a wonderful friend of mine, who also happens to be a creative genius (SurbanZulu) you should definitely check him out. Anyway, I am currently going through an difficult time in my life which is almost forcing me to re-invent myself. Within that re-invention requires the growth of not only myself, but all that I dedicate myself to. We had a wonderful discussion regarding how critical it is to make something of pain. To ensure that there is more than just healing and learning, but there is also growing. I am on my journey of growing, and trying to learn from my pain. Trying to re-align where my energies are directed and make something special. Have a visual representation of where it is this path took me. And it was at this restaurant that I decided that. It's crazy how a simple lunch date, almost turns into key defining moments in ones life. The discussions that are shared over good food, refreshing drinks, are those that contribute to making you a better you. Doesn't that make food/eating out that much more special?

But, more focus on the actual restaurant. It's recently changed management and I think they're doing a great job. Perfect place to host drinks with a couple of friends. I love the outside seating, it has the prettiest fairy lights just above and just a really cool outdoor seating. It's more of a lunch/sundowners restaurant. They've become really popular with their cocktails, I've personally never had one, but people seem to enjoy them. Super random but their chips are super bomb. It's a youthful vibe, that calls for good happy vibes. I would definitely recommend it to all the young adults out there. Also, who knows, maybe you'll find your spark here too.
